Cattle markets have been down this year and that's expected to continue.

Ty Sears with Mesabi Ranches south of High River says a sale in the next couple of weeks will give a better indication of just where the market's at.

"There's quite a bit of pessemism in the air still so nobody's really too certain, I think everybody lost enough money this last winter that this fall will be a little different," Sears says. "There's not going to be wuite as much money as there was kickin' around as there was last year."

He says the sale in two weeks time will dictate the calf market, while there are still some decent contracts for feeder futures.
