We now know more details about a tragic crash that happened north of Cochrane on Sunday evening.

RCMP got a call about a serious collision involving multiple vehicles on Highway 22 near Range Road 43 at around 9:30 p.m. 

Mounties believe a truck was heading southbound on Highway 22 and attempted to overtake a van and lost control, striking an SUV that was travelling northbound.

The truck then rolled several times into the oncoming traffic lane and collided with two motorcycles that were travelling northbound. 

A 43-year-old man driving a motorcycle from Mountain View County was pronounced dead at the scene.

His name will not be released.

Another motorcyclist, a woman, suffered non-life threatening injuries. She was treated in hospital.

The occupants of the SUV, including the woman driving the vehicle suffered minor injures and were treated at the scene. The passenger was not injured.

The 25-year old driver of the truck, from Mountain View County was located and arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle causing death. But because of her injuries she was taken to hospital for treatment.

Didsbury RCMP are investigating the cause of this tragic crash along with the RCMP Collision Reconstructionist.
