__________

Thursday around 11 a.m., Rocky View County and Cochrane Fire Services were called to a grass fire west of Cochrane near the Ghost Station Gas Bar and the Wild Cat Gas Plant along Highway 1A.

The fire is currently moving eastbound and Fire Inspector Jeff Avery with Cochrane Fire Services says Cochrane is not currently in any danger.

"There are multiple agencies fighting the fire right now. It is not yet under control but Cochrane is not in any danger at all and there is no need for evacuation."

"Rocky View is in command of the call but we are giving them help right now with a bush buggy."

High winds in the Cochrane area are making for thick smoke in the area which can cause decreased visibility for drivers.

Everyone is asked to stay clear of the area for crews to continue to fight the blaze.
