On April 23, Family Community Support Services and the Cochrane Movie House celebrated Cochrane's shining stars.

Hundreds of volunteers made their way to the theatre on Saturday for a morning of entertainment, snacks, and an opportunity to connect with others who give freely of their time.

Mayor Ivan Brooker was on hand to give his thanks."This is one of the biggest events in my opinion, for myself and the rest of council to say thank you to the volunteers in the community. It's just a small token but it's a really fun morning, so I am thankful for the turn out and very happy for everybody."

Beside the Mayor; town staff, Cochrane Royalty, Centrica representatives, members of FCSS, and many volunteer organizations came out to pay tribute to those that make Cochrane an amazing community.

Brooker added if it wasn't for those that volunteer Cochrane would not be...Cochrane. "The community would not be the same and offer as many opportunities for people to enjoy all the things Cochrane has to offer if we didn't have volunteers."

National Volunteer Week is being celebrated from April 23- 29.
