The Crossing at Ghost River just west of Cochrane recently shared a video on social media of a trio of cougars wandering nearby late last year.

"This scene was captured by a camera on the property at the end of November. We are used to having lots of wildlife on the property and each time it snows we wake up to fresh animal prints of all different sizes," details the post on Facebook.

"3 cougars traveling together is not something we see every day though, what a fantastic sighting!"

The video was shared just one day after Canmore issued a cougar warning on January 08, 2023. The warning covers the town and Bow Valley Wildland Provincial Park. Visitors are asked to be especially vigilant in the Cougar Creek, Horseshoe Loop Trails, Montane Traverse Trail, and surrounding areas.

In Cochrane, a recent social media post showed a rather large footprint spotted near the dealerships in Riversong.

Alberta Parks has many tips for avoiding surprise cougar encounters including traveling in large groups, making loud noises, keeping pets on a leash, and always being aware of your surroundings.
