Mother Nature will be on our side for the second annual Spray Lake Sawmills (SLS) Centre Summer Kickoff.

Brooke Sabourin, SLS Centre program manager says they have jam-packed the schedule to ensure a fun-filled evening.

"We'll have bouncy castles, a dunk tank, we've got beer gardens, we've got Gaga ball and lots of different activities going on in our back parking lot and grassy area. So there'll be something for everyone to do, and then we're ending it all off with a drive-in movie."

Last year's movie was shown on the grass behind SLS Centre, but due to construction in the area organizers decided to switch gears and offer a drive-in movie.

"You can pull right in and you'll be able to tune into it on your radio station or we'll have speakers out as well, so you can roll down your windows and enjoy it that way. We hosted a few drive-in movies over COVID and they were quite well attended and we're hoping to see the same."

As far as which movie will be playing, Sabourin says you can help to choose.

The choices are The Princess Bride, The Goonies or Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Mutant Mayhem.

You can vote for your choice on the SLS Facebook page

The outdoor movie will begin at around 9:30 p.m.

Members from the summer camp team will be on hand so parents and children can meet and get to know the leaders.

"For parents that have already signed up for camp, it's a great opportunity for the kids to meet the leaders. There's so many kids running around it can be a little bit scary or intimidating for first time campers. So this is a great opportunity to start getting to know some of the staff and then it just makes it that a much more comfortable experience on the first day. And for parents who haven't found camp or haven't really got that prepared for the summer yet, this is also another opportunity to ask some questions and decide if camp is a great space for your kids to come hang out with us this summer."

The free Summer Kickoff is open to everyone. It goes Saturday, June 22 starting at 7 p.m. at SLS Centre.
