The information wildfire alert has now been called off for the fire burning in Kananaskis Country approximately 15 km southwest of Bragg Creek. 

The alert ended around 10:15 am this morning (May 29) and voluntary evacuations in the extreme western portion of the MD of Foothills have been cancelled at this time.

Although the wildfire continues to burn it is now being classified as 'held'. The size of the fire remains at approximately 60 hectares and visibility may be affected due to heavy ground smoke in areas to the east of the fire including along Highway 762, between Highway 549 and 22.

 At this time McLean Creek and West Fisher Roads remain closed. 

Authorities are asking people to avoid the wildfire area and if smoke is to become an issue, residents are reminded to close doors, windows and vents.
