Cochrane RCMP are looking for witnesses into an incident where a cyclist was struck by a vehicle in a crosswalk in the Sunset Ridge area of town.

On Monday, October 30th, Constable Kary Moore says police were made aware of a vehicle versus cyclist collision that had occurred earlier in the afternoon.

Moore says the incident happened between 2:30 and 2:50 pm at the Sunset Drive and Sunset Circle intersection when the cyclist, who was under 10 years old, was struck by a vehicle in the crosswalk.

"The cyclist was taken to the hospital by his family as a precaution and the driver has been identified,"  Moore says the cyclist's injuries were minor.

"The RCMP are just looking to identify any witnesses to this collision," says Moore.   "We're still trying to piece together what happened as we weren't called to the scene."

Moore says, once they complete their investigation, if an offence was committed by the female driver of the vehicle, charges could be laid.

Anyone who saw the cyclist before the incident or witnessed the collision is asked to get in touch with the Cochrane RCMP at 403 851-8000.
