The Cochrane Piranhas had a fantastic first meet of the season in Didsbury on Saturday (June 3).

The Invitational meet co-hosted by the Piranhas and Didsbury Aquajets saw 267 swimmers from Calgary Swordfish, Calgary Tritons, Canmore Coho, Cochrane Piranhas, Didsbury Aquajets, High River Otters, and the Okotoks Stingrays.

Fourty three swimmers represented the Piranhas and Head Coach, Breanna Hendriks, was pleased with the club's performance. "The kids surprised me a lot, we didn't get as many DQs as I thought we might for a first swim meet with a lot of new swimmers. The kids did great, lots of best times."

The Piranhas won't have much of a break as their second race is the Stingray swim meet in Okotoks this Friday and Saturday. While tough on the swimmers, Hendriks, shares it is great from a coaching perspective. "It's good from a training perspective, the more you race the better you get at racing. But it is tougher back to back, as they are a little bit tired coming back to the new week and wanting to have them be ready for a two day meet. I think they will be able to pull through it and do okay, and get some best times hopefully."
