If you played any type of soccer in Cochrane, its likely you have been influenced by this gentleman.

This soccer referee, trainer, board member and all around great guy has decided at 81 years old it was time to take a step back.

This distinguished Cochranite has been involved in soccer in this town since 1960 and has been a driving force in building the Cochrane Rangers Soccer Club.  More often than not, you could find him on the field, blowing whistles, giving playing tips, and out running most of the players on the field 20, 30, 40 years his junior.

Jim Darby of the Cochrane Rangers Soccer Club has been planning an event to celebrate Reinder Sattler, better known as Reiner.  The Rangers club is inviting past, present and future Cochrane soccer players to join a fun skills competition with various sports where teams can compete for small prizes. But more importantly, it will be a chance to get together and honour all the work and commitment Reiner has displayed over the last 57 years.

"The guy is 81 years of age and is still running around the soccer pitch giving people tips and encouragement. He said he missed his 80th birthday party because he was dancing in the kitchen with his wife and slipped and hurt his back.  That is what kind of character he is; still dancing in the kitchen at 80."
