As we head into the long weekend be patient as traffic volumes could be interesting this long weekend.

Cochrane RCMP Constable Mike Warman shares that they aren't really sure what to expect with the BC wildfires. "The unique situation with the BC fires and the roadways. I know there was a closure there on 93 but not sure how that is going to affect this weekend's traffic depending on where people are going. It may cut the traffic down if there's road closures or it may increase it other places. It is one of those we'll have to wait and see what the weekend brings us."

RCMP will be beefed up as usual to nab drunk, distracted, and heavy footed drivers off our local roadways. "Obviously with the August long weekend there's going to be increased amounts of traffic probably heading out west and we'll be out in full force for all traffic infractions to crack down for the safety of all drivers this weekend."

Warman shares take it easy, be patient, and even leave early to keep your cool. "Take your time; expect traffic to be a little heavier and be patient and leave yourself lots of time to get where you need to go.

Rcmp will also have a presence in the back country so abide by the rules and keep everyone safe this long weekend.
