Cochrane RCMP is asking motorists to avoid Highway 22 near the community of Fireside as they investigate a serious collision that occurred earlier this morning (January 27).

The call which came in around 7:30 am, has had RCMP close both north and south directions as they investigate the collision which claimed a life.

No further details have been released at this time, but RCMP is asking drivers to avoid travel at this time due to snow-covered, icy roads.
