If it ain't broke, don't fix it.....unless, of course, you're talking about an animal that needs to be prepared for adoption from the Cochrane and Area Humane Society.  In that case, you really need to fix it!

During November and December, pets at the Society will be getting their holiday "fix" thanks to the generosity of a program from Jayman BUILT.

For every Jayman home sold in Cochrane during November and December, the developer will donate a spay or neuter fee to the Cochrane and Area Humane Society.  It's an effort to encourage animal adoption in the area to give animals a safe and warm home for the holidays.

According to Jaimie Anton, the Humane Society's Fund Development Officer, the average cost to care for an animal and prepare them for adoption is approximately $500 which includes spaying or neutering, the cost of vaccinations, parasite treatments, and the cost of sheltering.

In 2016 the Humane Society saw over 1,400 animals go through their doors and are on track this year for more than 1,500.

Anton says, "We see firsthand the importance of spaying and neutering animals.  With this donation by Jayman BUILT we're able to reduce the number of homeless or unwanted animals in Cochrane and work towards ensuring each animal finds a loving home."

Jayman BUILT is one of Alberta's largest home developers.  Their VP of Single Family Housing is Stephanie Myers says the company understands the importance a pet plays in any household.

"It's our hope that by donating the cost of a spay or neuter for every Cochrane home sale we close in November and December that we are able to reduce the costs for the Cochrane and Area Humane Society.  This will allow more animals to be adoption-ready and set to go to their forever families."
