Emily Buehler is on a mission.

The 10-year-old is rallying up the residents of her neighbourhood in hopes of getting an updated playground for kids of all ages to enjoy.

"I want to get a better playground for Riviera so we can have more big kid stuff because mostly it's just baby stuff."

She's going door-to-door looking for signatures in support of updated playground equipment.

"I just want to help out our community, and I want to make a big difference."

"It makes me feel excited and proud of myself."

She'd like to see monkey bars, swings that older kids could use, and bigger slides.

The current playground in the community only offers bucket-style swings and two small pieces of playground equipment.

Buehler is receiving a good response so far and is well on her way to reaching 120 signatures before she takes the petition to the town of Cochrane.

"I'm going up to the mayor's building, or I might send the letter in, or I might go up to him and give him the letter."

If you miss the door knock but still want to sign the petition, you can contact Emily's mom, Erin at erinbuehler17@gmail.com
