According to a Government of Alberta news release, Alberta is leading the country in second COVID-19 vaccine shots.

As of Wednesday, July 7, 50.7 per cent of eligible Albertans have received both doses of vaccine.

The provincial government thanked AHS, participating pharmacies, and select physicians' offices for administering 4.6 million shots of vaccine. 

To date, 73.6 per cent of the provincial population have received one dose of the COVID vaccine. 

There were 67 new cases reported in the past 24 hours with a positivity rate of .012 per cent. 

There are 140 people in the hospital which is an increase of two and there are 30 in ICU, a decrease of two. 

The province now has 745 active cases.

The death toll due to COVID-19 in the province is 2,307. 

Cochrane remains at eight active cases as does Rocky View County.
