Alberta Parks officials have issued a bear warning for an area in Kananaskis Country.

The warning affects Canyon Creek Road, Ing's Mine Provincial Recreation Area (located 20 kilometres southwest of Bragg Creek), and Ing's Mine Day Use area.

The warning was issued after a report that a black bear bluff charged a human. 

"Although an advisory is in place for this area, bears can be encountered anywhere in the Kananaskis Region at any time." stated officials on the Alberta Parks website.

Park users are being reminded to exercise bear safety when travelling to the area. 

  • Carry bear spray (be sure to check the expiration date.
  • Make noise
  • Keep all pets on a leash and close to you at all times.
  • Be aware of your surroundings on walking on trails
  • Be respectful of the space and needs of wildlife 

The warning is in effect until further notice. Please report all bear sightings immediately to 403-591-7755.
