On Thursday afternoon, it was announced that the 2020 edition of the Calgary Stampede has been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

This is the first and only cancellation ever since The Stampede became an annual event in 1923. The Greatest Outdoor Show On Earth was held during several major events in history, including World War II and the floods of 2013.

Every year, Cochranites join over a million people and head into the City to enjoy 10 days of rides, midway games, rodeos, and deep-fried food. The Calgary Stampede pumps over $500 million into the local economy.

The event was to run July 3-12, 2020.
