A family left missing their dad, father-in-law and grandpa are happy to know his memory will live on supporting one of his many passions.

Last evening (July 19) Robyn and Jason Bujold presented Margaret Van Tighem and Patti Fisher (Big Hill Haven) a substantial cheque in memory of Robyn's dad, Bob Campbell.

Bob Campbell, 68,  tragically lost his life the evening of April 27th on his way home from a fundraising Tribute for Bearcat Murray. While the tribute honoured Bearcat and all his community contributions, the dollars raised went to support Big Hill Haven, a project Bob was extremely passionate about.

Volunteering many hours as Secretary for Big Hill Haven, Campbell was not only of the organization's first board members he was thrilled to see the momentum the woman's emergency shelter was gaining. The evening Tribute and fundraiser event raised just over $25,000 and yesterday the Bujold's added another $11, 267 to Big Hill Haven's continuing fundraising efforts.

A Go Fund Me account in Bob's memory was created by Jason in the days following his death, which combined both community member donations as well as $4745 raised from an online Facebook auction which ran in conjunction with the Bearcat Murray Tribute. Initially, trying to decide who to donate the Go Fund me funds to was difficult, says Robyn, as her dad was involved in so many great organizations. "He helped so many people but it came down to the fact that he was at the fundraiser for the Haven that night and it was something he was very proudly involved with at the time. Not to mention everything else he was involved in was already established but this isn't."

Bob was very detail orientated as well as money savvy, which made him an incredible asset for many, says Robyn. "I would talk to him once or twice every day and the start to the conversation would be...'Hey, how's it going, what are you doing?'...and every time it was writing a business plan, doing finances, doing taxes."

Van Tighem says Bob's passing has left a huge hole in their hearts and on the board. His attention to detail was incredible and he was a doer. "He's a huge loss to the board because he was the person who would say let's just get it done and everyone else would leave while Bob would stay."

Big Hill Haven will use the Go Fund Me donation to help fund Patti Fisher's new role as their only Outreach Worker. Stepping off the board, Fisher is now Big Hill Haven's connection to helping women in need before the shelter has bricks and mortar in the Cochrane community.

It is incredibly ironic that an event to celebrate someone who is an amazing asset to the community while healthy and alive was the same night another incredible community member lost his life, is hard to get over.

Bob was an avid photographer, a family man, and a wealth of knowledge for so many. He had connections to curling, PADS (Pacific Assitance Dogs Society), Weedon Hall and enjoyed reading to students as part of a pet/pal program. After Robyn's mom passed away six years ago from cancer, volunteering became his passion and where he found his purpose

Lastly, the Bujold's are extremely thankful for all the community support they have and continue to receive. "We appreciate every one. It was nice to see people so willing to give and help honour my dad. I hope people do continue to give and the Haven can be built in short ordinance and help more people because that's what my dad would have wanted. It's unfortunate he'll never see it."

Both Van Tighem and Fisher share once Big Hill Haven is built a special area will be named and dedicated to honour Bob Campbell.

The Bujold's will leave the Go Fund Me open for another four to six weeks for anyone else who would like to donate in Bob's honour to Big Hill Haven; the Go Fund Me link can be found HERE.
