Following a weekend patrol on the Stoney Nakoda First Nation, a man has been arrested and charged with multiple offences.

On April 24th, at approximately 7:20 p.m. members of the Stoney Nakoda RCMP and Cochrane Integrated Traffic Unit were conducting patrols off the Ozada Flats north exit when they noticed a suspicious vehicle with one headlight entering the Stoney Nakoda First Nations Community.

Constable Jennifer Brewer with the Cochrane RCMP says Mounties initiated a traffic stop and in doing so, they observed cannabis within reach of the male driver who was the lone occupant of the vehicle.

"There was Cannabis within reach of the driver which is against the cannabis regulations," says Brewer. "A mandatory alcohol screening was done as well and it was found that the male driver had consumed alcohol. Queries indicated that he was on conditions not to have alcohol."

In breach of his probation, the driver was arrested.

Brewer says that a further search found what officers believe to be Methamphetamine and Fentanyl.

Bryan Kelrick House Jr. was arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Three counts of Failing to Comply with a Probation Order
  • Two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance

Kelrick House Jr. was held for a Judicial Interim Release hearing, he was later released and is scheduled to appear in Cochrane Provincial Court on April 27th, 2021.
