The Team Alberta male hockey team, which includes Cochrane's Kadon McCann and Bragg Creek's Lochlan Tetarenko, is heading to the quarterfinals of the Canada Winter Games tomorrow, Feb. 23.

The team went 2-1 in the preliminary round, including a 3-2 overtime win over Ontario, the top team in their pool. They kicked off the PEI games with a 4-1 win over Nova Scotia and lost their lone game against British Columbia, 4-2.

Tomorrow, they face Quebec, who had an identical 2-1 record in their preliminary pool.

Last May, McCann, 15, was selected first in the second round of the WHL Prospects Draft by the Medicine Hat Tigers. That same month he hosted the Alberta Cup as a member of the Alberta Black, which includes fellow Cochranite and Tri-City Amercians draft pick Jaxen Adam.

Right winger Tetarenko, also 15, is playing his first full season with the Okotoks Oilers U18 AAA team. He was selected in the third round of the WHL 2022 prospects draft by the Saskatoon Blades.
