Cochrane RCMP are investigating after a bike was stolen during the early morning hours of November 4th from a garage in the Gleneagles neighbourhood of Cochrane.

Constable Kary Moore says police were made aware of the theft just after noon on Saturday but that the bike was stolen early in the morning of the same day.

Moore says, "A resident of the Gleneagles area contacted Cochrane RCMP to advise that her video surveillance had recorded a male entering her backyard and then ultimately entering her garage and was seen walking away from the backyard carrying her bike to his waiting vehicle."

The stolen bike was a Specialized Rockhopper mountain bike (pictured below).

The suspect is described as a slim male, wearing a dark coloured hoodie, light coloured pants and a baseball cap worn backwards.

The vehicle he was driving was a dark, lifted Dodge extended cab pickup truck with a bush guard on the front bumper.

The surveillance photos of the suspect and his vehicle are shown below.

Moore asks that anyone with information on this theft contact the Cochrane RCMP at 403 851-8000 or contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Moore also offered a piece of advice about keeping your possessions safe.   "We sound like a broken record but we continue to say please keep your garages locked and your vehicles locked.  Don't keep garage door openers in your vehicles and certainly don't keep items of value in front of windows in garages or in your vehicles.  Lock up what you want kept safe."
