The collection of nonperishable food, gifts, and more continues until Friday, Dec. 10 for the annual Helping Hampers campaign of the Bow Valley High School (BVHS).

Kathleen McLeod, one of the school's leadership teachers, says the first batch of items donated by the community were collected from the St. Peter's Lutheran Church last Friday.

They welcome further donations of toiletries, cleaning supplies, and unwrapped Christmas gifts. Gift cards and warm winter gear would also be appreciated, says McLeod.

St. Peter's is located on the corner of Hwy. 22 and George Fox Trail. Contributions will be accepted from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. until Friday. Church officials ask those making drop-offs to wear masks.

The high school has a rich heritage of spreading joy to families during the holiday season by providing them with 'super hampers' that include a two-month supply of food. This year, they're be aiding eight local families.
