More charges have been laid against the man involved in an early morning pursuit on June 18.

Marcel Allan Saulnier, 36, remains in custody after appearing before a justice to face 11 more charges stemming from his arrest.

Cochrane RCMP report those charges include assaulting a police officer with a weapon, resisting arrest, dangerous driving, failure to stop while being pursued by police,  possession of stolen property exceeding $5,000, weapon possession and four counts of failing to comply with a release order.

Shortly after 5 a.m. on June 18, the Cochrane detachment was called upon to assist in the pursuit of a stolen truck that began in Calgary. He rammed a Calgary Police truck before stopping in the Springbank area.

The suspect attempted to flee on foot but was eventually arrested with the assistance of a police dog. He sustained some injuries during the arrest.

Saulnier has no fixed address in Calgary and formerly resided in Yarmouth, NS.

The police continue to investigate the identity of the truck's passenger who successfully fled the scene on foot
