A suspect sought since January turned himself in to the Canmore RCMP on July 28 on outstanding warrants for two charges of sexual interference and has been since release with conditions.

Jesus Fernando Pina-Aguirre, 34, of Cochrane, was sought for a sexual interference charge from an incident reported to the Canmore RCMP in January 2020. Pina-Aguirre has since been charged with one additional count of sexual interference for an alleged incident on March 17, 2019, in Banff.

Both incidents occurred when Pina-Aguirre was hired as a caregiver, and the victims were both under the age of 10.

Following a judicial hearing, Pina-Aguirre has been released with conditions and is scheduled to appear in Canmore Provincial Court on Aug. 19 in relation to both charges.

He was not residing in Cochrane at the time of the alleged incidents.

Conditions of release include:

  • No contact with a child under 16 unless supervised by adult aware of the charges;
  • Not to seek or obtain employment or volunteer position that involves being in position of trust or authority towards children under 16-years-old; and
  • Not to attend any public park or swimming area where persons under the age of 16 years are present or can be reasonably expected to be present or daycare centre, school ground playground or community centre.
