Four Cochrane female hockey players will be continuing their development at Hockey Alberta summer camps that will help determine who will represent Alberta on future U18 provincial teams.

Forward Sarah Wozniewicz and defensive player Bailey Fiala have been invited to the U18 camp from July 9-14. Goalie Kaylee Mckay and defender Anjali Simms are in the U16 camp, July 11-14. The U16 camp is a feeder for future U18 teams. Both camps are being held in Red Deer.

Fiala was with the AAA midget Calgary Fire last season and Wozniewicz played at the Edge School. Both are coming off great seasons. The Calgary Fire was one of the top AAA female midget teams in the province. Wozniewicz was an offensive power in Team Alberta's gold medal victory in the Canada Winter Games.

Both Mckay and Simms played in the Alberta Challenge in the spring.

"Summer camp is a big event for these athletes and for Hockey Alberta," says Kendall Newell, manager of Female Hockey. "The talent level that we have this year at both the U16 and U18 level is very encouraging to see, and we are excited to see these players show their skills."

A total of 114 female athletes have been invited to the camps; 68 in the U18 camp, 46 in the U16 camp.

From the summer camp, 25-27 U18 players will continue on to fall camp, where 20 players will be selected for Team Alberta. Morden and Wrinkler, MB are hosting the 2019 U18 national championship.

All four players first played hockey in the Cochrane Minor Hockey Association.
