What's new at the Cochrane Public Library? Lots of things, all the time. The latest lending library is winter equipment which includes: 26 pairs of snowshoes for kids and adults, 10 sets of outdoor poles, 15 pairs of cleats and 2 avalanche kits are on order.

Executive Director, Jeri Maitland says she must say thanks to The Bow RiversEdge Campground Society (BRECS), and SportChek for helping the library attain the new  equipment.

All you need to access the new winter equipment is a library card!  An annual family library card is $25. Maitland says, "You can get a lot of bang for your buck." There really is a wealth of items you can access plus books of course.

As Maitland points out they also have "a power tool lending library, gardening tool lending library, expensive high-end board games, and a giant chess game. We also have a Maker Space with crickets cutters, robotics, sewing machines, and wood burning tools. We just had an event the other weekend with people in making charcuterie boards for Christmas gifts. We really want to support that we have our 3D printer that we started with this year that makes all kinds of crazy stuff on that."

Not only is there a wealth of items at the Cochrane library, but with your library card you can tap into the TRAC (The Regional Automation Consortium) which is a partnership of Marigold Library System, Northern Lights Library System, Peace Library System, Yellowhead Regional Library, and their member libraries. Using TRACpac you can search a combined catalogue of over 180 libraries with holdings of nearly three million books, DVDs and other material.

It is well worth your while to check out what is new at the Cochrane Public Library.
