From knitting, to woodworking, to artwork, to story time, to book clubs, the Cochrane Public Library has something to offer everyone in our community.

The Winter 2024 Program and Activity Guide is out.

Carmen Erison, program and engagement manager with the Cochrane Public Library says as part of putting a focus on indigenous awareness programs, they're offering a unique soapstone carving course.

She says they've hired a local man, Michael Emery with Unique Soapstone Experiences to facilitate the program.

"What they're going to get is their own unique piece of soapstone that they're going to be able to carve into an animal or any type of shape. He's going to teach you all the step-by-step, how to create your own unique soapstone sculpture."

They offer that program for both children and adults.

Sticking with the art theme, Erison says she'll be offering a two-part class that will allow you to create two resin coasters.

"It's one of those artforms that you don't have to be an incredibly artsy person to be able to work with this material. It's just about learning the little tips and tricks to be able to make a really beautiful piece."

That program is for adults.

Erison says they continue to strive to offer the best programming for the people of Cochrane

"We are listening to you. Come and talk to us. We love to hear comments and we love to hear what you're interested in."

"We are here for you and we want to be able to present as many great programs as we can that you want to see." says Erison.
