Banff-Cochrane MLA Cameron Westhead was happy with the turnout for his open coffee meeting at the Cochrane Public Library on Tuesday (March 29) morning.

Westhead says "he heard a lot of enthusiasm about the climate leadership plan and the energy efficiency program in terms of the home visits for upgrades for energy saving fixtures, but also rebates on energy saving appliances".

He added that constituents also showed "a lot of support for our investments in education especially here in Cochrane, people know that schools open at capacity, so parents want to know that they will have teachers in their classrooms and that they wont have large class sizes".

Westhead is a member of the Ministerial Panel on Child Intervention looking at ways to improve Alberta's child death review system.

He says that the panel has met 5 or 6 times during phase one and will present a report with some preliminary recommendations to the Minister in April. In phase two they will look at the child intervention system in general and see if there are any other improvements that can be recommended there as well.
