The Town of Cochrane recognizes how important local community groups and their efforts are to Cochrane. The Town's 2020 budget includes over $300 thousand for community partnerships which includes community grants. 

Mayor Jeff Genung says, "It is important to provide some kind of seed money to those organizations looking to fill gap in our community and there is a lot of them that are doing great work. The Humane Society is one that council from years past had funded, that was a partnership, and look at they success they have had in the community."

In 2019, 31 projects were approved for a total of $44,766 in community grants.

Other details to consider if a community group is thinking of applying:

  • Applications can be for up to 50% funding, to a maximum of $2,500 per project/event or capital expenditure.
  • The project/event or capital expenditure, or the phase of the project/event being applied for, must be completed or purchased within 12 months of funds being distributed.
  • New applications may be given priority over repeat applications.
