This morning, 91.5 FM CochraneNow got a phone call from the one and only Brett Kissel! Last night was a huge night for Kissel and his bandmates as they walked away with three major awards from the Canadian Country Music Awards (CCMA’s). Male Artist of the Year, Album of the Year for "Now or Never" and the Fans’ Choice award for the second consecutive year and third time in his career.

"It feels the best, and I'm so grateful for that recognition and that type of love from my fans, and I hope they know forever, how grateful I am"

Kissel is Alberta born and raised, having grown up in St. Paul. Kissel has visited Cochrane many times to see friends and family in the area, but it's a special invite from a local country star that comes to mind when he talks about our town. "I remember, kind of early on in my career when I was about to move to Nashville, there was a gentleman by the name of Paul Brandt. Paul invited me to his ranch, just on the outskirts of Cochrane to give me some advice before I headed to the big city of Nashville to go and pursue my dreams."

"He called me! I didn't know that he even had me on his radar, but my manager Bob had spoken with Paul, it might have been at the CCMA’s, he said, you know my boy Brett Kissel? He's going down to Nashville and Paul says, Hey, from one Alberta boy to another. I just wanted to give you a few pointers. I've never forgotten that generosity, that kindness. Because of that, Cochrane has always had a very, very special place in my heart."

Kissel is headlining “Light Up the Night". A fundraiser in support of the Airdrie Health Foundation which not only serves the Airdrie community but also the surrounding area.

Kissel will be performing a virtual, solo acoustic show where 100 percent of the proceeds will be donated to The Airdrie Health Foundation.

"We've rented a wonderful studio space, it is going to be songs and stories, me and my guitar and just looking one on one into the camera, and it's gonna be a great day to interact and raise some money for the Health Foundation for obviously a very, very important cause and for your neighbors"

Tickets are free for the October 3, 2020, virtual show and are available until October 1, 2020. If you would like to donate to the Airdrie Health Foundation, you can do so here.
