An educational assistant from Crossfield has been charged with child pornography offences. 

Mounties say this comes after a complex six-month long investigation. 

"Airdrie Rural RCMP, in partnership with the Airdrie RCMP Specialized Investigation Unit, have laid charges in relation to a sexual interference case."

Thijs Gordon Vogelzang has been charged with Sexual Interference, Possession of Child Pornography, and Making Child Pornography.

The 43-year-old has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear at the Alberta Court of Justice in Airdrie today. 

Crossfield is approximately 40 minutes northeast of Cochrane.
