Darcy Dixon has been re-elected for a fourth consecutive term as chief of the Bearspaw First Nation.

In a Nov. 25 election, he secured 62.8 per cent of the 720 votes cast, easily surpassing opponents Anthony Bearspaw (142 votes) and David Bearspaw (126 votes). During the last election, Chief Dixon received 70 per cent of the vote. He was also chief from 1998 to 2008.

From a slate of six candidates, Pierre Lefthand was re-elected as a councillor for Eden Valley, and Keith Lefthand was newly elected. Incumbent Rex Daniels came third.

For Morley, Roderick Hunter was re-elected and Dacster Amos was elected from a slate of seven candidates. Anthony Bearspaw, the other former councillor, opted to run for chief.

All will be serving three-year terms.

The Goodstoney Nation is currently in the midst of its election. An advance poll is on Dec. 2, and election day is Dec. 9.
