A former NDP candidate is worried for young children following last week's provincial budget.

Rocky View Schools needs to trim $10-Million dollars off their budget to offset cuts made by the Kenney government.

Steve Durrell who ran for the NDP in the provincial election says Rocky View Schools averages about 21 kids per classroom but that number will get larger.

Durrell says "It's going to impact our class sizes and learning outcomes."

"It's going impact how our kids operate in the classroom and how teachers are able to serve them."

Durrell says more kids in the classroom means teachers won't have as much of an opportunity to spend one-on-one time with students which will hurt their chances at learning.
