Businesses and builders are being reminded that they can take advantage of government funding for the installation of electric vehicle chargers under the Zero Emission Vehicle Infrastructure Program (ZDEVIP). The initiative is the federal government pledging $680 million ending in 2027 with the objective to address the lack of charging and refueling stations in Canada. The increasing availability of localized charging and hydrogen refueling opportunities where people live, work and play.

Cochrane is just such a place and Mike Korman, Interim Director, Planning and Development Services for the Town of Cochrane says, "We want to make sure that the businesses know what grants are out there to help them to put in some infrastructure that would be beneficial to their business and the residents if they are a developer. We want to make sure that they knew that there was some money out there if they are willing to put in some EV (electric vehicle) chargers."

Korman says, "We're seeing a bigger uptake in the electric vehicle and the infrastructure needed for those is beneficial to the town in many ways."

The deadline for businesses and builders to take advantage of government funding is August 11, 2022. To go to the application click HERE
