A Calgary man has died after a non-motorized glider aircraft crashed near Diamond Valley yesterday afternoon.

RCMP were called to the scene at around 1:30 p.m. after the aircraft crashed in a field south of Highway 7 and 112 Street west of Foothills County. 

Police, EMS and fire crews responded to the crash. 

The 65-year-old man, who was the sole occupant of the glider was deceased at the scene. 

"Condolences to the family and friends of the deceased," police stated in a news release.

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada said it will deploy a team of investigators to the scene.
