A contest was held by the Town of Cochrane that awarded three families with the honour of being the first people to officially use the new crossing

WinnersThe winning families, Martin, Kelsey, Sophia, Archer and Harrison Medynski from Heritage Hills,  Blaine, Lama and Noah Garrison-Al-Yafi from West Terrace/West Pointe and, Leanne Doppler and Ruffy the dog from Heartland

Many residents of the surrounding communities also attended the ceremony to be part of the first group to cross.
