This Saturday (July 27) take a step back in time as the Cochrane Public Library hosts the fourth annual Medieval Day.

The free popular all-day event will once again see the Cochrane Public Library lands transformed into a time when King's and Queen's ruled the land, and storytellers captured the tales.

Andrea Johnston, Community Outreach and Program Librarian, shares they have a full day of incredible activities in store that will spark your imagination and keep attendees from young to old entertained. "We have our Vikings coming again from last year, the Knights are coming, All Saints are back and they are the ones that taught us Medieval dances and put on the hilarious Punch and Judy show, we have another magician again, and we're going to have a pony hop station."

Attendees will be able to test their skills at safe archery or participate in medieval combat, jump in the bouncy castle, or settle in to watch a performance put on by the  Cochrane Public Library's, Drama Club. "They will be performing a play for the first time and one of our local teen's is building a set for us, so we are extremely excited about that! I am so proud of our drama kids, it is going to be just awesome."

Proclaimed 'Medieval Day' by Mayor Jeff Genung and the rest of Town Council on June 24th, the annual event has attracted upwards 5,000 people.

This year Medieval Day is being hosted slightly later than prior year's to ensure all the event's favourite performers can return, and all attendees are encouraged to dress up in their favourite Medieval wear.

Proving libraries are more than just books on shelves, the Cochrane Public Library continues to spark imaginations and creativity in all community members by hosting events like this.

Food trucks, a market place with vendors, music, and dancing will also be part of the 2019 celebration which runs from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. For more information, go HERE.
