“Canmore is about to look a lot more like a post-apocalyptic Jackson, Wyoming! HBO’s ‘The Last of Us’ is coming to town and will be shooting at various locations within the downtown core throughout November,” the Town of Canmore wrote on their website.

FIlm crews began to transform Canmore at the start of the month. Visitors and residents can expect closures of downtown for filming to begin November 15 with Main Street closed to vehicles from the 600 block to the 800 block, reopening on November 21. Other filming locations detailed on the Town of Canmore website include the Miner's Hall parking lot and the Engine Bridge.

The HBO production based on the hit PlayStation video game franchise has been filming all over Alberta since the summer. The production, touted as the biggest in Canadian history, has been shot in various locations including High River, Fort MacLeod, Edmonton, Calgary, and now Canmore.

‘The Last Of Us’  stars Pedro Pascal (The Mandalorian, Game of Thrones) and Bella Ramsay (Game Of Thrones) as Joel and Ellie. Taking place in a post-apocalyptic world, Joel is tasked with transporting young Ellie across the country while dealing with hostile gangs and horrifying infected.

‘The Last Of Us’ is set to premiere in 2022.
