Federal Agriculture Minister Marie-Claude Bibeau is hoping the Liberals once again form government on October 21, 2019.

She talked about some of the issues included in the party's agriculture platform.

"We'll keep reinvesting in science and innovation. We have a strong intention to improve the Business Risk Management (BRM) toolkit. We're prepared to increase the federal support, because we have to work with the provinces to improve AgriStability."

Bibeau says the Liberals would also look at ways to improve inter-generational transfers for farmers.

"That was something that we had opened the door in Budget 2019 and we have started some consultations, but now it's a commitment that is even stronger, to move faster on finding better measures to facilitate the farm transfer."

She adds, supply management is also an area of focus for the Liberal Party.

"Obviously our support for every sector of supply management is still strong. It's only because of a matter of time that we were not able to conclude for the poultry and the egg sectors and for the processors but we intend to be back and to proceed as quickly as possible to confirm and to announce a level of compensations for all these sectors."

Bibeau says if re-elected the Liberals would provide even more funds and resources to Farm Credit Canada (FCC) and rename the organization Farm and Food Development Canada.

The ag leaders debate held last month is still available to view on the Canadian Federation of Agriculture (CFA) YouTube page.
