We are just a couple of weeks away from Cochrane Light Up.

Fifteen-thousand people come out to the event that welcomes Christmas to our town each year.

Light Up Chair Stephenie Shelstad says for those who haven't been to the event before they can expect a big festival that welcomes Christmas to our town.

Shelstad says "We have businesses set up all down the street that will give out hot chocolate, hot dogs or both. There will be stilt walkers, there will be face painters, there's going to be some crafts, kids can make reindeer food and Santa will be there. The Activettes will be there collecting donations for Share your Christmas, for the food bank."

She says this year they are doing things a bit different at the end of the event and they are asking residents to please leave their dogs at home.

First street will be blocked off from 1st Ave to Centre Ave for the festival.

They won't have the same fire pots as they've had in the past but there will still be five different fire stations to warm up at including a massive fire pit from the town.

Light up goes on November 23 from 4:30PM - 730PM.
