Looking to stock up for BBQ season?

The Lions Club of Cochrane is hosting a meat draw fundraiser that could leave you with a freezer full of beef!

Kevin Firkus with the Lions Club says they wanted to do a fundraiser to get people excited for the spring and summer.

"Hopefully this pandemic let's some people get out and we can have some BBQ's so we decided that we would do a half a beef raffle."

They're hoping to raise $10,000.

"We've been helping out the community through this pandemic quite a bit and we just wanted to reach out there and get some people excited about things coming in the spring. All the proceeds are to the Lions Club that we end up putting back 100 per cent back into the community."

The money raised goes back into the community.

"We had a lot of expenses out in the community through the pandemic with medical issues and that. Helping different functions, Boys & Girls Club, all sorts of different things that required money. So we're just trying to get our coffers back up a bit because we weren't allowed to do any fundraisers over the last year including our rodeo and our spring dance, but it's also to help the community, get people talking and get people excited about something."

The draw will be held on May 15.
