A week from now, a huge celebration will be in full gear at Cochrane Toyota to wrap up the month-long bike-a-thon that's entering its final week.

The ambitious event has raised plenty of interest, says key organizer Dan Kroffat, and he explains in full detail in the attached interview.

It's not only a fundraiser for the trail but a chance to log minutes in support of Cochrane's bid to be named the most active community in the country.

The celebration starts at 12 noon at Cochrane Toyota. They'll be free food and plenty of draws.

"We've got draws going on every half hour from 12 to 2 for prizes in value up to $10,000," says Kroffat.

We'll also find out who won the friendly challenge between Mayor Jeff Genung and local MP Blake Richards. Kroffat says they'll also be a major announcement at the event.

"This has been a lot of fun. I just spoke to the mayor the other day and he indicated the money is coming in, and yet Blake says the money's coming in also. So I'm thinking they're having a real battle."

He says an update will be provided on the trail that's in the works between Cochrane and Calgary, coupled with a major announcement.

"Our hopes are that we continue the story about the trail, and we'd loved to see this finished."

There's still time to participate in the bike-a-thon. For more information, and to register go here.
