First responders from across the country and beyond will attend the funeral of constables Travis Jordan and Brett Ryan the officers who were killed in the line of duty on March 16.

Cochrane will be represented at the funeral as a dozen Cochrane RCMP members, and three members of Cochrane Fire Services will be attending today (Monday, March 27). Cochrane RCMP Cst. Bonnie Sauve will be one of the RCMP officers attending and says, “Obviously, there is going to be hundreds and hundreds of officers there from all over attending. So, there’s going to be a mustering period and then the procession will take about an hour. It is a two-kilometre march to the funeral venue and then the funeral is scheduled to begin at 1 o'clock.” The service will be held at Edmonton’s Rogers Place where attendance will be limited to family, Edmonton police members, other law enforcement members, emergency services members, military members, and special guests.

The public is invited to show their respects along the procession route which will depart from the Alberta Legislature at around 11:45 a.m.

A live stream will be made available of the funeral service.

Cochrane Fire Services Fire Inspector Jeff Avery says, “Just with first responders attending, it is still going to be a very large funeral and I am glad that Cochrane can show support for anybody that suffers a loss like that.”
