The New West Symphony and Chorus (NWSC) is here on Sunday, Dec. 4 to lift our Christmas spirits with a free concert.

The performance is from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Cochrane Alliance Church, 902 Glenbow Dr. It starts promptly, and people are encouraged to arrive early.

NWSC is 125 members strong and their 25-member Student Ensemble will also be performing.

"They'll be everything from Christmas song tunes to sacred hymns and everything in between," says Rick Richards, a member of the chorus. "It's a fabulous concert and I would just encourage people to come out."

While it is free, they asked people to consider bringing single-serving-sized packages of hot beverages, such as hot chocolate, apple cider, and instant coffee. These packages will be used to help fill gift bags to be given to guests at their New West Gifts Back: Sharing Christmas Joy event.

New West Symphony and Chorus was established in 2010 and its vision is to use music as a conduit to bless others.  They have quickly gained recognition in Calgary, and consistently fill churches and auditoriums at their concerts throughout the year. They give about 10 performances annually in such genres such as classical, pop, gospel, and contemporary.
