Tow familiar teams have advanced from the HJHL south division to the next round of playoffs.

The Okotoks Bisons won three games straight against the High River Flyers after losing the opening games, 4-1. The final blow was dealt last night when the Bisons took a 3-1 lead in the first at home and added two more for a 5-1 win.

The Medicine Hat Cubs downed the Coaldale Copperheads in three-game straight to advance.

The two met in last year's south final, with the Bisons winning, then going on to capture their second consecutive HJHL title.

It's a slightly different story in the north division, where the Mountainview Colts kept their playoff hopes alive with a 6-3 win over the Rocky Rams on Feb. 28.

That series returns to the Rocky Arena tonight for game four.

In the other north series, the Airdrie Thunder fell three-games straight to the Sylvan Lake Wranglers, the top team in the division.

Sunday, the league semifinals will have a different look. There are cross-over best-of-five semifinal series between the remaining teams from the north and south division. The Wranglers open at home against the Cubs, and the Bisons will play the winner of the Rocky-Colts series.

The Cochrane Generals bowed out in a first-round thriller against the High River Flyers that came down to overtime in game 3.
