The Great Cochrane Outhouse Race has been pushed forward to Sept. 19 to better fit into the fall lineup.

Ryan Baum, president of the Young Professionals Rotary Club, says a review of the calendar made it clear Sept. 19th was the best date.

"We felt it was a little too tight to everything, so we've postponed it. We looked at the next weekend, but it was the Labour Day Weekend, and we didn't want to conflict with the Lions Rodeo and all the events they are putting on."

Anticipation continues to build for the return of the popular race that attracted record crowds in 2019 before it was set aside during the pandemic.

Registration is set to open later this week. Teams will be able to register online or in-person at Cochrane Toyota, 8 River Heights Dr., or Heavenly Outhouse, 312 1St. W. in Cochrane's Historic Downtown.

Karrie Peace, who spearheaded the race for numerous years and made it into a major attraction, will be lending a hand in organizing this year's event. Baum says her help is appreciated in a transitional year.

Details will soon be released on what else is in store on race day.
