Back by popular demand, The Kiwanis Club of Cochrane is holding its weekly Saturday Chase the Ace game.

The interactive fundraiser is a driving contributor that helps to raise funds for a number of community programs for disadvantaged kids in the Cochrane area; including their annual Christmas toy project initiative, bike recycling and safety program, kids’ leadership programs and Kamp Kiwanis.

The Kiwanis Club of Cochrane recently distributed 16 bikes for tykes in Cochrane's  Filipino community. Before that, they had expanded their fundraising efforts to help vulnerable Cochranites with sanitary measures in wake of COVID-19. At a time when hand sanitizer was scarce and unavailable on store shelves, they took sanitary measures into their own hands, so to speak - and began producing and distributing it to local organizations.

The Cochrane Kiwanis Club President, Ron Gosselin says that there are 32 cards left in the deck and no one has picked the ace of spades yet. Gosselin says that if the ace of spades is picked this Saturday the lucky winner will bank between $1,050 -$1,100.

Gosselin says that health and safety measures surrounding COVID-19 will be followed at the Chase the ace event, and participants can come and out, have fun and support a good cause in a safe environment.

"We'll have masks on and gloves on, we handle the tickets ourselves and the pub itself has restrictions in terms of the number of people that are able to get in and will have distancing between the tables."

Previously at the Iron Bridge Pub, The Kiwanis Club of Cochrane has now partnered up The Venue Bar and Grill.

Chase the Ace runs every Saturday. Tickets are five dollars and will be available starting at 6 pm.

The Venue will offer a happy hour drink and steak sandwich special each week and at 8 pm the draw will take place.

Chase the Ace takes place every Saturday evening at The Venue Bar and Grill located at 79 Railway St. E.
