In early 2017, Cochrane will welcome a 4000 square foot play centre designed to keep children under 10 busy.

Too Cool Beans will open for business in the New Year in the old IGA building, offering parents another alternative for free play.

Rob Miller, Too Cool Beans, Owner, says with three kids under 6, he understands the desire of wanting a place to play in a community he loves.

Miller says his floor plan utilizes every square inch of space.

"We will have a large indoor play structure, underneath the play structure itself a wiggle car race track, we also have a small climbing wall, a reasonably sized infant and toddler area, and there is also an interactive game floor where by computerized images are shot down on the floor and kids can interact with what is scanned down."

More than offering a place to play, Miller's 20 year career as a critical care paramedic and firefighter means he has high standards for safety and sanitization.

"I am doing everything I can to make it the safest facility anywhere, where as all staff will have to be highest level First Aid/CPR trained with a focus on pediatrics. We will be as germ free and allergen free as we can, we will have very strict cleaning procedures, we will probably even shut down monthly for an insane deep clean of sorts."

Security will also be taken seriously with a magnetic gate buzz in, surveillance system, and stamp/wristband matching system.

"It is a parental supervised facility, of course our staff are going to keep an eye on things but ultimately the responsibility lies with the parent or guardian."

While the community is thrilled about this new addition, concerns of price and food alternatives have started to surface. Miller has yet to finalize the price list but does say there is room to accommodate multi-child families as well as offering a punch or monthly pass. As for food, outside food will need to remain outside.

"I know some people get a little upset perhaps about the limitations of outside food; there is a lot of reasons behind it, it goes back to safety and being an allergen aware facility. We will have a small cafe in there, it will be relatively healthy food choices and snacks for kids and adults like."

Miller is hoping Too Cool Beans will not only entertain the little people but provide reprieve for parents too.

"Go let your kids burn some energy for a few hours, enjoy your cappuccino, enjoy free WiFi, catch up on emails, watch Netflix, whatever you want, just take your mind off things for a few hours."
