The spotlight will be shined on the rich rugby culture in this Saturday's Club Day of the Bow Valley Rugby Club.

It's a day that features games from U7 right through to men's and women's teams.

Rob Julien, a member of the Bow Valley Grizzlies and vice-president of the Minis program, says Club Day only happens once every season.

"It's a chance to showcase the players and the wide range of ages that there are," he says. "It also displays the positivity that is building in all our age groups, which is really extension of the positivity that rugby brings to a lot of people."

For spectators, it's a chance to check out the sport and see if it's a fit for them or their children.

Rugby has a sports culture like no other. It's definitely a physical game for older players (a flag version is played by younger charges), but that's all left behind when the competing teams gather afterward for some fellowship.

Play begins at 10 a.m. when the U15 girls playing a combined team of the Saints, Rams and Canucks.

Play wraps up with a 3 p.m. women's game against the Titans. Just before that, the men's Div 2 team is scheduled to play the Banff Bears.

In a prelude to the day, the Div. 3 men's team host the Canucks tonight (May 24). Game time is 6:30 p.m.
