Wrestling fans are in for a treat as the Canadian Wrestling's Elite (CWE) brings professional wrestling to the Cochrane Fair on August 16th.

As part of the Friday night card, ticketholders will bear witness to a match not often seen, the Ladder Match; created by none other than Cochrane resident Dan Kroffat, aka, 'Cowboy' Dan Kroffat.

Kroffat a former multi-time Stampede Wrestling North American Heavyweight Champion will be making an appearance back in the ring on August 16th, and although he won't be wrestling, he will be the special guest referee for the Canadian Wresting’s Elite Ladder Match.

Looking forward to refereeing a match he invented, the now-retired Kroffat is more about fighting for community causes than duking it out in the ring. "Initially I turned this down, but because I have a surprise and a plan, I have taken on the role as referee for the match."

While Kroffat is not divulging any information about the big 'surprise'; Spencer Tapley, Announcer for the professional wrestling event, says in total eighteen wrestlers will take part in the show that will feature six matches including an all-girl match and the Ladder Match "It is all under the banner of Canadian Wrestling Elite based out of Winnipeg. Four times a year they do the cross-Canada tours, and this one coming up is just a mini-tour."

Besides Kroffat making a ring appearance, Tapley shares the Warlord will also be making an appearance. "He was in the WWF for sixteen years and was part of a famous tag team called the Powers of Pain alongside the Barbarian, managed by Jimmy 'Mouth of the South' Hart. He also had a match in Wrestlemania against another famous local wrestler that made it big, British Bulldog, Davey Boy Smith."

The first-ever Ladder Match pitted Kroffat against Tor Kamata, and then subsequently against legendary Archie 'The Stomper' Gouldie sparking one of the biggest feuds in Stampede Wrestling in the 70s.

With tickets anticipated to sell out fast, Tapley shares, in words as the late great Ed Whalen used to say: “It’s going to be a ring-a-ding-dong-dandy and don’t ya dare miss it!"

There will be two different tickets up for purchase for the big show, states Tapley. "There will be a $23 in advance 'Meet and Greet' ticket, and then there is an $18 in advance general admission or $21 ticket at the door. The Meet and Greet will allow for fans to come an hour in advance ( 7 to 8 p.m.) to meet and greet the stars, take pictures, get autographs, buy paraphernalia advance of the general admission crowd.

Tickets for the match can be bought at The Venue or at the Eventbrite link found HERE along with all other Cochrane Fair events being held at the Cochrane Ag Grounds the weekend of August 16 through to the 18th. Doors to the event open at 7 p.m. with bell time anticipated at 8:30.
